Tragedy of the Man
In this
nationally renowned 19th-century poetic drama by Imre Madách the
ever-scheming Lucifer guides Adam, the first man, on an historical pageant
through space and time. They travel the entire timeline of the human race, from
ancient Greece to modern London to a post-apocalypic arctic landscape. In each
chapter, Adam and Eve take on the forms of different historical figures, and
Adam’s hopes for mankind are dashed again and again by the cruel realities revealed
to him by Lucifer. The journey is nearly too much for Adam’s faith to bear, but
Eve’s love never fails ro restore his courage as he trudges through the
inevitable catastrophe that is humanity.
