The Boy Changed into a Stag 16

The mother, aged with sufferings, is waiting for her son to return home. The boy, however, has set off on a grand voyage. He wishes to step through the gate of secrets, for he senses that on the other side he will find the meaning of his existence. His mother tries in vain to tempt him to return, with talk of memories past and even by appealing to him in the name of his deceased father, but the boy will not return. He yearns to know himself, but he can only do so if he forgets his face and “becomes a stag”. The production was inspired by the great epos of Ferenc Juhász, The Boy Changed into a Stag. This version for the stage is an elegant example of poetic theatre.
