Othello MITEM 14
A Venetian nobleman tells the centurion Iago that Senator Brabantio's daughter Desdemona, whom he loves, has married Othello the Moor, a general invited by the Venetians. Iago does not hide that he hates General Othello, who did not appoint him as his assistant, but Cassio. They inform Senator Brabantio that Desdemona has eloped with the Moor. Othello tells Iago how he fell in love with Desdemona. Othello is summoned to the Duke of Venice where Desdemona's father accuses Othello of bewitching his daughter, but Desdemona informs everyone that she married the Moor of her own free will. The Duke orders Othello to go to Cyprus to fight and allows Desdemona to accompany her husband. Othello entrusts Desdemona to Iago and his wife Emilia to bring him to Cyprus. Iago takes Roderigo with him. Othello, victorious from the war, meets Desdemona on Cyprus. Iago makes Cassio get drunk with wine and Roderigo starts fights him, Othello dismisses Cassio as his assistant because of this fight, Iago advises Cassio to ask Desdemona to reconcile him and Othello. Desdemona asks Othello to forgive Cassio, Iago takes advantage of this and makes Othello jealous of Cassio, advising him to keep an eye on Desdemona and Cassio. Desdemona accidentally loses a handkerchief, which Emilia finds and gives to Iago. Iago convinces Othello that Desdemona gave the handkerchief to her beloved Cassio. Blinded by jealousy, Othello kills Desdemona
