Help the King

Prince Emeric, heir to the throne, has died, killed by a wild boar. King Stephen grapples with grief, but also fears for the fate of his nation. We are on the border of two eras. It is time to abandon plundering escapades. The past still pulses, but at the cost of considerable sacrifice, the Hungarians must become part of Christian Europe. The death of the prince, however, has thrown the future into question. The historical question is which way to turn. In this verse drama József Ratkó adopts a panoramic perspective, covering a millennia. Director Sándor Csikos also examines the distant and current problems of Hungary’s history and searches for connections between events past and present.
