Bubbles Comedy in three acts

“The most important condition for family bliss is that the husband grant his wife her every wish,” says Szidónia, the headstrong wife of landowner Ignác Solmay. She and her daughter Szerafin are capable of anything to extract the money from their husbands for their clothing and jewellery bills. The spare time left after shopping trips and social events is perfectly filled with domestic intrigue, blackmail and fainting on the sofa. However, when Szidónia hosts an evening to attract perfect matches for her still eligible children, and tries to keep Szerafin’s overly free-thinking husband in check, the avalanche of intrigue and misunderstandings begins.

Simpleton suitors and enchanting fortune-seekers aspire to each other’s non-existent treasures. Szerafin’s morally strict husband is caught in an act of corruption. A verbose provincial relative drives everyone crazy. The man of the house, Ignác Solmay, is shy to stand up to things, and courageous in submitting to them, but even he has had enough when he sees that his wealth is ruined. Szidónia’s unstoppable good intentions lead his children to their ruin, and he has to pay the same bill three times over.

The bubbles of pipedreams and lies are burst, but Szidónia is not broken: even if financial ruin means they will have to bid farewell to the cream of society in the capital city, at least she can gather elegant people around herself in Pankóta...
