Contemporary Drama Festival at the National
Between November 26th and December 3rd, the 10th Contemporary Drama Festival will take place in Budapest. The festival organizers chose two of our performances for the program: Once We Live – which was awarded best production by the theatre critics this year – and Hungarian Feast. Our audiences can also see a verbatim documentary performance by PanoDrama, Word for Word, as well as two staged readings.
The programs of the 10th Contemporary Drama Festival will be dealing with documentary theatre. The festival also supports the presentation of contemporary foreign plays on Hungarian stages. This year's edition of the festival will also include a showcase program which will feature plays from last season's best productions and performances of staged readings
As in previous years, The National Theatre will take part in the program of the Drama Festival. Two performances of our repertoire – Once We Live, which was awarded best production by the theatre critics, and Hungarian Feast by Pál Závada-- were selected into the program. Additionally, at the suggestion of the Contemporary Drama Festival we will host Word for Word, a verbatim documentary show by PanoDrama, as well as two staged readings- Conversations with Astronauts by German playwright, Felizia Zeller and Servility of Customers and Subtenants, which is a selection of scenes from contemporary French plays.
