János Feledi

dancer, choreographer, director

János Feledi is a dancer, choreographer, and director, and the artistic director of the Feledi Projekt. Over the past 16 years, the company has become one of the most versatile creative workshops on the Hungarian dance scene, working with a diverse repertoire and maintaining a consistently high artistic standard.

The premiere of his first independent work, Idők folyamán (Over Time), on 8 December 2010 at the Gárdonyi Géza Theatre in Eger, also marked the founding of the Feledi Projekt, which has since served as the framework for his creative and choreographic work.

His work is characterized by performances that combine different disciplines, bringing together both classical and progressive forms of the performing arts. The consistent quality of this work, along with the succession of productions it has produced, has earned recognition from the Hungarian dance community. In 2014, the Feledi Projekt was admitted as a member of the Association of Hungarian Dance Artists.

Since 2019, János Feledi has been a fellow of the Hungarian Academy of Arts’ Scholarship Programme. In 2020, he was awarded the Gyula Harangozó Prize in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a performer and creator in the field of dance.

The Asterion Project is a multicultural theatre company based in Budapest, primarily producing performances in English. Their first production, Jorge Luis Borges: The House of Asterion, which is a unique blend of prose, poetry, and dance, premiered in English and Spanish on 22 March 2017 at the Bethlen Square Theatre. Over the past nine years, the company has collaborated with artists from more than 20 different countries, regularly presenting contemporary theatre productions for international audiences in Budapest, and touring in various cities across Europe. Their comedy Most Budapest drew special attention by portraying life in Budapest through the eyes of foreigners and examining how people from other cultures interpret Hungarian culture, language, and ways of thinking. The Asterion Project was founded by Croatian actress Čarna Kršul.
