Dalibor Matanić

Dalibbor Matanić, a film and theatre director, graduated from film directing studies, at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. His debut feature, Cashier Wants to Go to the Seaside (Blagajnica hoće ići na more) was a hit: the film won three Golden Arenas at the Pula Film Festival of Croatian cinema, in 2000, and also opened the 30th edition of the festival, New Directors/New Films in New York. Matanić received the Golden Birch Award for the best debut director in Pula, and the award for the best European first-time director at the Film Festival Cottbus (Germany). In 2002, he directed the acclaimed feature, Fine Dead Girls, which won seven awards at the Pula Film Festival, in the same year. Then in 2013, he produced the stage adaptation of the film at the Gavella Theatre in Zagreb. He also directed two highly-acclaimed films, The Lika Cinema and The High Sun, the latter won awards at prestigious festivals in Cannes, Sarajevo, Pula and Cairo.
