He crafts a theatrical language of remarkable technical mastery, seamlessly uniting literature, music, and video while keeping the actors’ performances at the core. His theatre explores the power of language and political discourse, and has done so since his debut with his "Trilogie du pouvoir (Trilogy of Power)". In 2023, he staged Mozart Don Giovanni at the Opéra de Lille, Francesconi Trompe-la-mort at the Paris Opera, and Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung in Berlin and Milan. At the Toneelhuis in Antwerp, which he directed from 2006 to 2022, he launched P.U.L.S. (Project for Upcoming artists for the Large Stage), a scheme to support the creation of young artists.
